The newly appointed director general of the ‘government ports’ along with the Party Popular, now in power, have announced an ambitious plan to develop a 600 berth marina in Cala en Busquets, Ciutadella. This will triple the current number of moorings available.
An investment of 34 million Euros over the next four years has been proposed which includes the construction of a breakwater and other facilities. The new development is planned to cover 4.5 hectares and will have moorings for yachts up to 20 metres.
Llorenc Brondo, Ciutadella’s mayor, referred to a waiting list of over 200 yachts and so the council feel that the expansion of Cala en Busquets is, ‘a necessity’.
