INTERNATIONAL YACHMASTER TRAINING
LEAVES DEBTS

It has been some months since the local branch of International Yachtmaster Training, based in Palma has closed down, however, they still operate in Florida and S. Africa.
The closure has apparently left many outstanding debts to both local companies and individuals including some students’ having paid in advance but not having completed the courses booked and promised.
(See letters page)
It has been claimed by the CEO, Mark Fry, based in Ft Lauderdale Florida, that this local closure is temporary for the summer months.
Prevarication seems to be the order of the day from the Florida based company regarding payments and return of students´ fees and it is ominous that on their website and in their advertising they have eliminated any reference to the Mallorca branch which was previously included.
As the letter writer states, it is a great pity as this was certainly an asset to Mallorca.
The MCA have been contacted and been made aware of the facts. It will be interesting to see if IYT will continue to be approved by the MCA!
