Wining & Dining

This month my recommendation is in Port Adriano, El Toro.
Recently opened, at the entrance to the port, the bar-restaurant, ’Utopia’, looking over the marina, is definitely worth a visit.
At the entrance there is a cafe area where you can sit to have a drink and snacks which range from a number of breakfast options, a selection of tapas and sandwiches.
The restaurant, which seats about 40 has linen table-cloths and very comfortable cane chairs.
They offer 24 starters ranging from 3.80 to 14.80; salads from 5.80 to 11.80; 6 ‘meat dishes’ from 8.80 to 18.80 and desserts from 3.20 to 3.80; but their speciality is definitely fish and shellfish dishes.
These start from 10.80 with ‘specials’ - which on the day we went was a huge platter of various fish and shellfish at 30 for two people.
We chose boquerones and chipirones to start (generous servings) followed by grilled sea bream, fresh and succulent accompanied by a fresh mixed salad. Good service and ambience.
With a small cava and a beer plus a bottle of Vina Sol (at 12.80) our bill came to 59 Euros.
It is also worth checking out their ‘functions room’ if you have any ‘events’ coming up.

In the same area I can also recommend a recently opened ‘menu del dia’ restaurant in Son Ferrer. Right on the roundabout you’ll see ‘El Pequeno Chef’ on the corner. With tables inside and out it offers a ‘menu’ for 7.50 inc wine- with a choice of 20 starters and 20 main courses! It’s good- try it.
