The Balearic ports authority has circulated a letter to all ports to charge a fee for the use of launching ramps for small boats.
The tariffs, which came into force on June 14th, are 2.56 Euros for boats up to 5 metres and 4.27 for boats over 5 metres.
Marineros have reported a range of reactions from users, who until now, have paid nothing.
The majority are naturally angry and a large number have refused to pay.
Although these refusals are reported to the port authorities and the new law states that refusal does attract a ‘sanction’, the precise type / size of penalty has apparently not been specified.
