The Balearic Ports Authority have published a 65 page document outlining in detail what is expected from those bidding for the 15 year concession in Palma´s boat yard.
The main points are that the hard standing area is considerably increased, more moorings will be made available on the southern side of the espigon exterior, the concessionaire will be totally responsible for entry and security in the yard (previously controlled by the port authority) and that a massive list of repair and refurbishment is required for the existing facilities.
Added to this, two new buildings must be provided by the concession winners.
The whole area is to be resurfaced with drainage and a filtering system to eliminate toxins and oils. Services to the yachts (electric, comms. etc), lighting and fire-fighting facilities are to be beefed-up considerably.
Lifting and hard standing prices have been fixed and the concession allows a supplement of 20% on services supplied (electric, water telephone etc) to be applied.
The yachts both in and out of the water will also be subject to port authority taxes.
The bids must be in by mid-February and a decision is expected by the end of March.
