Hi John.
Thanks for your message.
I have now been back in UK for 5 years and working for Peters Plc, Europes largest marine Distribution Company, My principal job is as senior skipper, co-ordinating all sea trial, demonstration, delivery and handover jobs through the company, as well as organising all berthing requirements for our "boats in progress" and International Boat Shows. Itīs a fab job really, and I am very pleased to have got away from the private yacht sector and its associated bullshit!! It wasnīt working out for me towards the end, and I was on a dangerous path. Things are now very much better, new gorgeous young wife and little son to boot! How are things in Palma? If there is one thing I do miss, itīs the sunshine, and I am always priming our outfit to be transferred to our Cala DīOr operation or even the new Denia set-up, but they seem to value me here! Oh well! For the time being, I canīt go anywhere anyway
Regards to yourself, and anyone who may remember me!
Chris Green.
Dear Mr. Rule,
This is Dorijan from A1JLT Headoffice.
As you have already found out, there is a new law concerning private and commercial foreign yachts arriving to Croatia this year.
This new law imposes restrictions on embarkation and disembarkation of passengers in Croatia, with a purpose of preventing the black charter market.
According to this law, a pleasure yacht can embark or disembark the passengers in Croatia to double its capacity from the one stated in the Certificate of Registry.
If the owner is on board the capacity can increase by 30 percent. For example, if the registered capacity is 12 passengers, it means that the double capacity is 24.
Thirty percent (30%) of 12 passengers (the registered capacity) equals 4. When you add these 4 passengers to the 24 passengers, you get a total sum of 28 passengers who can be embarked.
As for the yacht performing a commercial activity, the embarkation and disembarkation can be performed under these three rules:
1) the crew and the passengers who have sailed into Croatia from abroad, can be disembarked in Croatia.
2) the crew and the passengers embarked in Croatia must leave Croatia after their cruise, and disembark abroad.
3) the crew and the passengers embarked in Croatia can be disembarked in Croatia as well, but they have to visit a place abroad during their cruise. I suppose that there will be some changes of the law in the year 2006, but I cannot say anything definite to you concerning the changes right now. Until the definite changes approved by the Ministry occur, we have to respect the existing law.
I stand at your disposal for any further inquiry.
Kind regards,
