Observant readers, may have noticed that we did not do our regular Wining & Dining restaurant review last month, choosing to give the space over to the Genoa Charter Show feature, which we thought had some interesting content.
Once again we will forsake it for this issue to bring you news of a handy publication which informs of no less than 200 Wining & Dining establishments all over Mallorca.
Entitled “Mallorca Restaurants 121”, it is researched, written and published by Anthony de Souza and Astrid Kauffman, who have the enviable task of personaly visiting and sampling hundreds of restaurants, and selecting those which they believe have something special to offer, for publication in their book.
The guide is neatly indexed, and detailed with essentials like location, cuisine, average prices, and opening times with two photos of each restaurant, plus it comes in a convenient coat pocket / handbag size to carry with you!
Anthony and Astrid took two years extensively researching their book, which features all 6 Michelin star restaurants, 28 Five star restaurants, and 169 independent eating establishments on the island.
They are a very international partnership, with Astrid being born in Santiago-Chile, and having lived in Curacao, Netherlands Antilles, and the UK where she worked for Goldman Sachs advertising in London. Anthony was born in Zambia and has lived in seven countries including S.Korea, S. Africa, Scotland,Spain and USA working as a teacher.

If your ever cruising on the NE Coast, drop your hook off Colonia de San Pedro in the S.E.Corner of Alcudia Bay, and visit the “Restaurant Sa Xarxa”, which lies just along the promenade to the south of the marina.
It has shaded tables on the sea front, and serves great fish dishes with a Mallorquin flavour - a superb place to eat, drink and watch the sun go down behind the Tramuntana! For reservations tel: 971 589 251
