This month we decided to visit and review a restaurant we have previously enjoyed, and are obviously not the only ones to have done so, as it has been in business for nearly 18 years in Port de Pollenca. But since we were last there, the place has been closed for a total refurbishment over a 6 month period during the winter, and re-opened it´s doors on 15th June this year.
It has always had a special location being right on the harbour front overlooking the Bay of Pollenca,and just a short walk along the promenade from the Real Club Nautica marina, but the new look building is totaly glass fronted which really opens up the panoramic views.
The addition of a huge wooden decking area all around the harbour front side of the restaurant also maximises the number of tables that can enjoy “al fresco” dining in the sea air, and we chose one of these on the kind of balmy July evening that almost makes it a sin to eat inside!
Inside or out the table settings are well laid out and attractive, with plenty of waiters around to make sure your needs are well met.
The restaurant offers a good selection of fresh food from an international cuisine, and you can choose from a “menu del dia” at 30 Euros, including wine, dessert and coffee, which one of us did, selecting a light fish soup “marinade”, and lamb escalopes, pan fried in stuffing, with fresh vegetables.
The other chose from the “a la carte” - a tomato salad with mackerel strips and dill sauce, which was a very generous portion but apparently very tasty, as it all dissapeared! Followed by escalopes of pork fillet, with apples and calvado sauce.
From the wines of the month reccomendation we selected an Ondarre Reserva 1993 red wine from Rioja at 25,35, which was excellent served slightly chilled.
The fresh fruit salad and the chefs special dessert from the set menu were both very tasty, and with coffee and complimentary liquors to follow, the total damage was just over 94 Euros inc IVA, which I reckon to be very fair value for a quality meal in very pleasant surroundings.
Reservations are reccomended especialy during the summer months.
