The Trofeo SAR Princesa Sofia – Mapfre has recently joined the club of the top six Olympic classes regattas of the World, becoming part of the new World Cup Series.
This recognition from ISAF confirms the Sofia as the Spanish Olympic regatta with highest international participation, the only Spanish regatta selected.
Only six regattas in the World will be part of the World Cup Series (a circuit that will replace the former “Grade 1” events)
These are : Hyères (France), Medemblick (Holland), Kiel (Germany), Melbourne (Australia), Miami (USA) and the Sofia (Palma de Mallorca) that has recently been selected.
Over a thousand boats from twelve classes and around 1,700 competitors will meet from 31 March to 6 April 2007 in the bay of Palma and will be distributed in four Clubs (Club Nàutic s’Arenal, Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa, Real Club Náutico de Palma and Escuela de Vela Calanova)
