PORT USERS SURVEY A TENTATIVE
THUMBS UP

The Balearics Port Authority, have recently presented the findings from their latest survey, carried out to establish the level of satisfaction from users of the 28 leisure ports under concessionary management. (ie: not directly managed by the Port Authority)

But given the current round of concession changes, meaning increased costs to marinas, with their effect on mooring rental charges and ownership rights, it could seem that almost any results from the survey are likely to be presented in a favourable light by the government.

After interviewing 2418 transitory and permanent users of the ports during 2006, Monica Pozuelo the Vice President of the Ports Authority announced an average satisfaction rating of 7.6 measured against their own targeted expectation level of 7.3.

But the respondents also gave some clear pointers as to which aspects of the Port services could be made better. These included: Improved shower & toilet facilities: Easier disposal of bilge water engine oils and sanitary waste: More convenient mooring reservations via the internet: Longer opening hours of Port Masters offices, and greater acceptance of credit cards for payment of mooring fees.

Wider moorings were also requested, but it seems that space constraints, combined with the present over demand situation will not allow too much scope for this.
