BIG NOTHING
Entertaining. Without any expectations, sit down, turn it on and enjoy a nice story, sparkled with funny bits. Not a lot of thinking, but not daft either. Save it for the “I can’t be asked to think, never mind subtitles” day. We recommend it!
THE ILLUSIONIST
Brilliant! Let your self be hypnotized by this dangerous illusionist, experience a mystical love story… It will taste like suspense and mystery, but you soon find out you‘ve been fooled… I can’t say any more: DON’T MISS IT!
JOHNNY WAS
Good, good, good!! Johnny Doyle (Vinnie Jones) lives in London hiding from a dark past in Ireland… Trying to stay as far away as possible from crime. He doesn’t do very well at it, as above his apartment there is a Rastafarian reggae pirate radio station and downstairs, a West Indian ´Yardie´ crack-dealing gangster. It gets more tricky when an old mate comes asking for trouble… There is a bit of a love story, as well! Very entertaining, the music is great too.
PERFUME: THE STORY OF A MURDERER
Don’t try to watch it while eating! I swear, I’ve put my dinner aside. Its not creepy or anything like that, but what they do very well (via excellent photogaphy and sound) is make you feel as if you were there. And trust me, this guy didn’t grow up in a nice place… Intrigue and contradiction with great characterizations from Ben Whishaw, Dustin Hoffman and Alan Rickman. By the way, I haven’t read the book, but I heard its not as good, although as close as it could get.
… Smell it!
