CALA CONILLS
ImageThere is nothing better than getting personal reccomendations for a restaurant, and having  heard several excellent reports about Cala  Conills in Sant Elm, right down on the S.West tip of Mallorca, we just had to go and see for ourselves.
What we had heard - was that the location is superb, (right on the waters edge overlooking Isla Dragonera) the ambience and service is relaxed and friendly, plus (somewhat unusually) the kitchen is known to be equally adept at preparing excellent fresh fish dishes, or tender succulent steaks. So there is no compromising on choice of dishes, when it comes to quality.
What we can say - is that everything we heard was true, and that we thoroughly enjoyed a long lazy lunch, under the shade of the bamboo roofed terrace, with the waves lapping onto the rocks only a few metres away.
The menu is definitely biased towards fish as you would expect in such a location - offering (to name a few) Bass, Gilt Head, John Dory  Scorpion Fish, Lobster, and local Red Prawns all  fresh in season and priced per kilo.
From the fixed price menu you can choose Dorada or Sea Bass at €18.00. For meat eaters there is  Sirloin or Fillet Steak at €20 or €22.50, just plain charcoal grilled or served with either a pepper or red wine and parmesan sauce. Main courses come with a selection of fresh vegetables and boiled potatoes, and as with the starters and desserts, there is nothing pretentious on offer,  just good wholesome, tasty food! (The Strawberries & Cream were delightful)
If arriving by boat, you can anchor off, and come ashore in the dinghy, where you can tie up on the natural rock walkway leading to the restaurant..
If going by car its a very pleasant 30 minute drive from Palma via Andratx, and the restaurant´s website has clear directions.
Reservations are reccomended, especially during the coming summer months.
