EDITORS COMMENTS - DEC/JAN 08

Dear Islander,
Another year gone by, and our front page story confirms what a boom season it has been for leisure boating in the Balearics.
Here at The Islander, in our own small way, we are a reactive barometer to these positive developments, and we have felt privileged to be involved with so many exciting events during this year.  Sometimes its been hard for our small crew to keep up with it all, but its been loads of fun!
Looking back at this column in the December 2006 issue I wrote; “As we go into 2007, we have teamed up with a few people to bring some slightly different features into The Islander for the New Year.”  The objective was to have a  regular selection of lifestyle and leisure content which complemented the newsletter´s main boating theme. Since then each monthly edition of The Islander has become the sum of many parts, involving a lot more people. I hope and trust that it has achieved the right balance, and give my sincere thanks to all those contributors, who have put up with me harassing them every few weeks with my dreaded “copy date reminders!”
I would also like to give heartfelt thanks to our advertisers & distribution points, plus the many people that send us regular information, and of course our readers,  as it is these groups that between them, make it all possible as we go into our 12th year of publishing.
And finally, I would like to express gratitude to those of you that regularly visit our website, which has doubled its viewers since it was re-launched with a new look in June.

Feliz Navidad y Año Nuevo próspero, Peter Franklin
